Farm News: Getting Ready for Harvest - the Old World Wisconsin WaycommentsPosted: 08.24.2011 In preparation for the harvest, Old World Wisconsin will host "Saturdays in September" on Sept. 10, 17 and 24 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. During these special Saturdays, visitors are invited to join in some of the activities associated with bringing in crops and preparing for the change of seasons at this outdoor historic site. Activities vary by weekend and include: rendering lard, to be used in making household products, making cheese, 19th-century style, re-tiring a wagon wheel, making homemade pies and crusts, seeding the fields, and even taking horse-drawn omnibus rides. Ticket Information:
Old World Wisconsin admission is $16 for adults, $14 for students and senior citizens (65 and older), $9 for children 5-17 or $43 families (up to two adults and two or more dependent children 5-17). Admission includes tram transportation.

Old World Wisconsin, owned and operated by the Wisconsin Historical Society, is a premier outdoor museum of 19th-century immigrant farm and rural life. The site is open May 1 through Oct. 31 plus postseason holiday weekends, with more than 30 special events scheduled.
