Following the video, we will proceed across the street to the Knowles Trading and Produce, where members of the Whitewater Fire Department will present a one-hour program on grain engulfment and extrication. Kelly Freeman, who is certified in confined spaces, and has extensive training in grain engulfment is excited to share his department’s expertise and experience with grain engulfment. Kelly, along with his teammates will discuss developing a program for grain engulfment safety in your area.

 

A firefighter (with appropriate safety gear) will role-play a person engulfed in a hopper bottom grain truck. With other participants, Kelly will demonstrate extrication procedures with their own equipment and commercially manufactured equipment for the procedure.

 

The presenters will discuss grain handling safety, grain engulfment and prevention procedures.

 

This program will follow a special firefighter training session for Dodge, Fond du Lac and Washington County emergency personnel.
