With several last minute donations, the Wisconsin Agribusiness Council 25th Annual Showcase Auction was able to reach its goal of bringing in just over $25,000 for its educational efforts.

Ferron Havens, President of the Wisconsin Agribusiness Council (WAC), and Justin Laxton, Auction Coordinator, said that their new auction location at the Alliant Energy Center expo hall also helped to bring in the crowd.  "I had some concerns Pam," Havens told the WI Farm Report on Friday, "but everybody showed up - and the products didn't disappoint anybody,"  Havens said he and volunteers had been working long hours trying to pull together the more then 250 different items that were auctioned off - not to mention the 11 pallets of potatoes, canned fruit and vegetables that people got to select from.

The success of the auction allowed WAC to increase proceeds by over 25% this year.

The monies raised through this auction are used to support the Agribusiness Council’s agricultural education projects- which include our educational books: The ABC’s of Agriculture, The Business Called Agriculture, and An Agricultural Career for You. These materials are provided at no cost to teachers and students throughout Wisconsin.  In addition, the funds help us provide other educational events and activities throughout the state.
Check out the WAC website www.wisagri.com for a complete list of donations and make plans to attend next year’s auction in late August.

The Wisconsin Agribusiness Council is a membership organization for agribusinesses in Wisconsin. The Council, and its educational foundation, the Wisconsin Agribusiness Foundation, strive to educate consumers on the importance of our agricultural industry to their everyday lives and to provide the industry with a voice at the state level.
