Have back yard gardeners and the buy local movement changed the way commercial vegetable producers approach their profession?

The 2011 production of sweet corn and snap beans for processing are both expected to decrease in Wisconsin. Sweet corn for process-ing production is anticipated to total 522,570 tons, down 12 per-cent from last year. This decrease is due to a drop in acres harvested, from 78,700 in 2010 to 66,400 in 2011. Contracted snap bean production is forecast at 258,320 tons, down from 308,750 tons last year.
