Farm News: State Corn Growers Host Screening Of "Freedom"commentsPosted: 09.14.2011
The American Lung Association invites everyone to a screening of the new documentary film "Freedom" showing in Madison at the Sundance Cinema, 430 No. Midvale Boulevard, Monday, Sept. 26, and in Milwaukee, at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Union Theater, Tuesday, Sept. 27. Both showings start at 7:00 p.m., and include pre-event activities with the filmmakers.
Freedom, the jolting new documentary that takes a hard look at America’s perilous and unsustainable addiction to foreign oil and focuses on a surprising solution to America’s oil dependence, is from the filmmakers of the award winning Sundance documentary “Fuel” and will debut simultaneously in theatres and on DVD.
Filmmakers Josh and Rebecca Tickell have embarked on a three month, 30+ city North American Clean Energy Tour in a fully customized Freedom Bus, a “green” constructed, highly energy efficient vehicle. The Freedom Bus will be open to the public and will showcase the latest biofuel-efficient, advance fuels and wind, solar and water technologies. TheTickells will be at the theatre for a post screening Q&A and the Freedom Bus will be parked at location for free entry.
The film explores the role that ethanol plays as a homegrown alternative that will boost the domestic economy, create jobs and reduce our need to rely on dangerous and unstable parts of the world for our fuel. Additionally, drivers using E85, a blend of 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline can help make a positive impact on the air we all breathe. E85 is an official Clean Air ChoiceTM of the American Lung Association of the Upper Midwest. A typical Flex Fuel Vehicle (FFV) driver can prevent 4 tons of lifecycle CO2 and other pollutants from entering our air every year by fueling with E85 instead of gasoline. E85 fuel is intended for use in FFVs only. FFVs use E85 or gas interchangeably. Fuel lid door indicates E85 use.
