Lynn Harrison, a pork producer from Elk Mound, and past president of both the WI Pork Association and National Pork Board has been appointed to the Wisconsin Land and Water Conservation Board.

Lynn and his wife, Pat, operate a 10,000-head pig farm in northwest Wisconsin. He is a long-time member of the Pork Board’s Environmental Committee and served as the board’s vice president this past year.

In 2002, he received the Environmental Stewards Award, given each year to a select number of US.pork producers who best demonstrate their commitment to preserving and protecting the air, land and water resources related to their farms. His farm is one of eight Wisconsin Discovery Farms, which are part of an environmental research program run by the University of Wisconsin.

The LWCB connects local and state governments on conservation and farmland preservation issues. The board reviews and makes recommendations on county land and water plans, recommends how funds are to be allocated to Wisconsin counties to put conservation plans into action, provides a forum for discussion of emerging issues related to soil and water conservation, and approves and grants releases from Farmland Preservation agreements entered into prior to July 1, 2009 (Section 91.19(3), 2007 Wisconsin Statutes).
