This year’s Wisconsin Championship Auctioneer Contest held at the Wisconsin State Fair was really something special with a new attraction. The Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection’s (DATCP) Something Special from Wisconsin™ Program companies donated items to auction, and proceeds from those winning bids were donated to the Wisconsin FFA. A check for $639 was presented last week to the Wisconsin FFA.

“Thank you to the Wisconsin Auctioneers Association and the Something Special from Wisconsin™ Program for their generous donation to the Wisconsin FFA,” said Jeff Hicken, the Wisconsin FFA Advisor. “We really appreciate their support of the leadership opportunities in FFA and agricultural education by auctioning off the high-quality Wisconsin-grown products.”

The annual auctioneering contest is organized by the Wisconsin Auctioneers Association. This is a non-profit trade association that promotes the growth and professionalism of the auction method of marketing.

Something Special from Wisconsin™ has been a trademarked program of DATCP since 1983. The trademark logo guarantees that at least 50% of a products’ ingredients, production or processing activities are from Wisconsin. There are about 450 companies in the state that are members of Something Special from Wisconsin™. Over 20 companies donated items and gift certificates to the auction.

Companies that donated to the auction include: Valley View Emus, Sweet P’s Pantry, Martha’s Hot Mustard, Inside Out Wellness, Clementi’s Signature Garlic Sauce, MacFarlane Pheasants, Neys Big Sky Ranch, Coon Creek Family Farm, Northleaf Winery, Lily River Foods, Wine Seasonings, The Cocoa Shoppe, Opie’s Goats, Farmhouse Recipes – Hodan Center, Calamus Creek Farms, Howling Wolf Gourmet Foods, Stump’s Hot Olives, Confections for Any Occasion, Silver Spring Foods, Wisconsin Christmas Tree Producers Association, and Wreaths by Chalann.
