The state Assembly is set to consider a bill that would lay out new requirements for future Natural Resources Board members.

Under the Republican-authored measure, starting in 2017 at least one board member must have an agricultural background. Beginning that same year three members must have held a hunting, fishing or trapping license in at least seven of the 10 years before he or she was nominated to the board.

The bill passed the Assembly Natural Resources Committee 12-4 earlier this month. The measure is on the full Assembly's Tuesday floor session calendar.
