Wet weather in northeast Wisconsin is slowing the 2011 harvest season.

The latest Wisconsin Ag Statistical Service (WASS) update shows that only 67 percent of northeast Wisconsin soybeans and just 30 percent of the corn crop there were harvested as of Sunday.  WASS also said that corner of the state seems to be short on available hay and roughage supplies going into the winter compared to the rest of the state.  State reporters say northeast Wisconsin's already reporting 20 percent of farms are short on supplies - with just 60 percent saying they've got adequate supplies.

For the rest of the state - the harvest is basically complete.  State averages according to WASS were ranging from 150-200 bushel to the acre on corn statewide, and around 50 bushel to the acre average on Wisconsin soybeans.

With some precipitation over the weekend, fall tillage advanced to 41 percent complete.  Some growers had been concerned that soils were so dry fall plowing was limited and so were fall seeding options.

Winter wheat, tillage radishes and other fall-planted crops were coming through the soil surface after a little rain.  Irrigation was helping raspberry lovers in Waupaca county stretch their season into November!
