The educational value of children’s museums is often overlooked, but when the Madison Children’s Museum needed funds for its new Building Big Ideas project, the Middleton Monsanto site nominated the organization for a grant to help provide science education programs for the community.

The nomination proved successful, and the Madison Children’s Museum received a $10,000 grant from the Monsanto Fund, the philanthropic arm of the Monsanto Company, during a ceremony at the Madison Children’s Museum on Nov. 16. The grant will be used to fund the Building Big Ideas project.
“The Building Big Ideas project is a year-long effort to build partnerships with the community in science education for older audiences, as well as design, implement and evaluate new programs in the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics,” said Cheri Buckner, director of development and external relations for the museum.
Doug Boyes of Monsanto Company was very excited to play a part in the donation.
“The museum has a large impact on our community, and reaches more than 100,000 children and families annually,” Boyes said. “Many of our employees and their families visit the museum on a regular basis, and we are happy to be able to show our appreciation for it.”
Cheri Bucker of the Madison Children’s Museum was very appreciative of everything the Middleton Monsanto site has done for the museum.
“Monsanto has led the way as a supporter of past museum initiatives,” Buckner said. “We are proud to be involved with such a wonderful company.”
