Posted: 11.29.2011

In early 2011 the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) announced that it was working on a local emphasis program (LEP) for inspecting Wisconsin dairy farms.   The Dairy Farm LEP was signed at the end of October.

Dairy producers and allied industry folks who want a better understanding of the OSHA Dairy Farm Local Emphasis Program (LEP) are invited to join a webinar offered on December 6, 2011 from 1-3 p.m.

Western Technical College and UW Extension are co-hosting a site for interested people to view and listen to the webinar in room 220 at the Western Technical College building located at 120 East Milwaukee St. in Tomah. The webinar will be broadcast at a limited number of locations around the state.

The webinar, organized and conducted by the UW Center for Agricultural Safety and Health, will feature Mary Bauer, Compliance Assistance Specialist, OSHA Eau Claire Area Office. She will explain the LEP and what it means for dairy farm employers.

A copy of the LEP document can be downloaded from this site: http://monroe.uwex.edu/files/2011/11/Dairy-Farm-Operations-LEP-FINAL-2-TO.pdf

For additional information about the Tomah host site contact Bill Halfman, UW Extension Ag Agent at 608-269-8722, or Pete Brandt, WTC Ag Instructor at 608-797-0938.
