Farm News: Prices to Farmers Expected to Increase in Milk, Corn and Hay

Prices for milk, corn, alfalfa hay, and other hay types were ex-pected to increase in Wisconsin from October to November 2011, while prices for oats, soybeans, and potatoes were ex-pected to decrease during the same period.

Corn in Wisconsin sold for an average price of $5.76 per bushel in mid-November. This was 20 cents more than the previous month’s price and $1.39 more than the price in November 2010. Nationwide corn prices averaged $6.00 per bushel in mid-November.

The average price for soybeans in Wisconsin was $11.20 per bushel in mid-November, 50 cents less than October’s price but 40 cents more than the price in November 2010. Across the United States soybeans sold for an average of $11.50 per bushel in mid-November.

Wisconsin oats averaged $3.40 per bushel in mid-November, 15 cents less than the previous month’s price but 67 cents more than in November 2010. Nationally, mid-November oat prices averaged $3.40 per bushel.

Alfalfa hay in Wisconsin sold for an average price of $130.00 per ton in mid-November, $10.00 more than in the previous month and $25.00 more than in November of the previous year. The average price for other hay types was $90.00 per ton in mid-November, up $10.00 from October 2011 and up $20.00 from November 2010.
