The expected U.S. milk price for November is $19.90 per cwt. This is the same as October’s price, but 90 cents below Wisconsin’s price. Eighteen of the major milk producing states are predicting a price decrease from October to November. Only California, Idaho, Minnesota, Washington, and Wisconsin are expecting a higher price in November. Minnesota is predicting the largest gain in price, up 80 cents to $21.30 per cwt.

The Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) 40-pound block cheese price closed at $1.7700 per pound on November 30, while barrels were $1.7200 per pound. The CME butter price was $1.6575 per pound.

For the week ending November 19, 2011, the National Agricultural Statistics Service U.S. weekly 40-pound block cheese price averaged $1.8239 per pound, and 500 pound barrels adjusted to 38 percent moisture averaged $1.9070 per pound. The U.S. butter price was $1.7725 pound.
