The La Crosse County 4-H Leaders and local supporters were honored for their service to youth at the annual 4-H Parents’ and Leaders’ Holiday Party and Recognition Night held December 8, 2011 at the Log Cabin, Bangor.
Five outstanding 4-H volunteer leaders were named as 2011 La Crosse County 4‑H Honor Leaders at the event. They are nominated and selected by their peers in the 4-H program and were recognized with an engraved silver tray. Honored for their work in local and county 4-H activities were: Don & Lise Graham, 4-H Key Leaders, Holmen; Elizabeth & Jeff Janvrin, Mississippi Mud 4-H, La Crosse and Sally McCann, 4-H Key Leader, West Salem. 4-H leaders with 5, 10, 15 and 20 or more years of service were also given special awards, certificates, and gifts. There are over 300 adult volunteers who give of their time and talents to share with youth.
The 4-H Leaders Executive Board oversees the county 4-H program and the 2012 Executive Board was installed during the program. The 2012 4-H Executive Board Officers are: President, Peg Jerome, La Crosse; Vice-President, Charlie Lipke, Holmen; Secretary, Kelly Wilde, Onalaska and Treasurer Linda Saley, Bangor. The six representatives serving on the Executive Board are: Bangor District, Janelle Thomas; Holmen/Mindoro District, Sue Pittman; La Crosse/Onalaska District, Linda Trautmann; West Salem District, Donnalee Hoelzen; and the two At-Large Representatives, Jeff Janvrin, La Crosse and Terry Jerome, La Crosse. Marla Stello, La Crosse serves as the representative to the Agricultural Society and Renee Scafe, West Salem will serve as Past-President on the 2012 Board.
In addition to honoring leaders, area individuals or businesses are honored at the event each year for their contributions to 4-H. This year Associated Milk Producers, Inc., La Crosse Archery and Overhouse Trucking were honored as 2011 “Friends of 4-H”.
