Farm News: WI Milk Price Stays Steady - For NowcommentsPosted: 01.05.2012
Wisconsin farmers received an average price of $21.30 per hundredweight (cwt.) or $1.83 per gallon at the farm gate for their milk in November 2011, up $3.30 per cwt. or .28 a gallon from November 2010.
The December 2011 price is expected to decrease 60 cents, to $20.70 per cwt. ($1.77 per gallon). The expected U.S. milk price for December is $19.80 per cwt. - 60 cents lower than last month and 90 cents lower than Wisconsin’s expected price for December. All states except New Mexico are anticipating a decrease in price from November to December.
California is expecting the lowest price in the nation, dropping $1.21 to $17.20 per cwt. ($1.47 per gallon). The second lowest price can be found in New Mexico at $18.90 per cwt. (1.62 per gallon), unchanged from the previous month. |
