Farm News: Record Breaker Expected At Corn-Soy Expo

Trade show space and hotel rooms are all max'd out for the 2012 Wisconsin Corn/Soy Expo coming up this Thursday and Friday.

Nancy Kavazanjian, coordiator at the event for the WI Corn Growers Association, says that there's a good chance more then the typical 1,300 attendees will be at this years conference.  Hundreds are expected to register on site both days, and Kavazanjian says preregistered guests are already ahead of last year.  She tells the Wisconsin Farm Report that they've pushed the expo location, the Kalahari Resort in WI Dells, to the limit as far as trade show space, break-out session rooms, and room accomodations in general.  "We're going to be tight,"  Kavazanjian tells Pam Jahnke.  "I've turned away at least a dozen exhibitors just because we didn't have the space. It's going to be crowded - but that also increases the excitement."

Kavazanjian says the expo has more then doubled since it moved to the WI Dells site some seven years ago.

Kavazanjian says that content is a major reason why growers make this conference a priority for their operations.  They'll deal with everything from estate planning and advocacy work right on through to cooking demonstrations and kid friendly activities too.  Wisconsin Ag In The Classroom program will be key in several different forums keeping the audience active.

So what's in the future for the show?  "Well, I don't know what we're going to do in the future,"  Kavazanjian laughs.  "I've added some exhibitors into the hall to try and get more people involved.  We'd sure like to have a bigger trade show floor and few more meeting rooms but that's not going to happen.  We love the location - it's centrally located for our growers and it's a good break for the families."
