Sarah Rushfeldt, 2012 Wisconsin Honey Queen will spend the day at the Fond du Lac Agriculture Showcase educating the public about honey, honeybees and the important role they play in pollination of our food supply. She will give a cooking demonstration at 9:30 a.m. on the main stage to show consumers how to use honey as a sweetener in cooking and to discuss the health benefits of eating honey on a regular basis. After her presentation, she will talk with Showcase visitors that stop by the local beekeeper booths.

The Fond du Lac Agriculture Showcase, being hosted by the Fond du Lac Area Agribusiness Council, will be held Saturday, March 3, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., at the Fond du Lac County Fairgrounds Recreation Building. Admission is $2, with children 10 and under admitted free.

Other activities at the Showcase include 60 vendor booths, Agri-Partners Petting Zoo, Appetizer Contest, kids’ coloring contest, face painting, food samples and cheese, sausage and beverage tasting all day. Numerous stage activities are planned for youth and adults including Amy Hanten, The Cooking Mom of WLUK TV at 11:00.

The Fond du Lac Area Association of Commerce Agri-Business Council, along with Festival Foods, and the Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board, sponsor the event. More information is available by contacting the Association of Commerce at 920-921-9500 or by visiting online at www.fdlac.com.

Proceeds from the Showcase will be used to support the Agriculture Ambassador Program, scholarships, and educational activities of the Agri-Business Council.

Sarah is the 23-year-old daughter of James and Bonnie Rushfeldt of Dresser, Wisconsin. Sarah is currently a junior at Crown College in St. Bonifacious, MN, where she is pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in nursing. A beekeeper since the age of 8, Sarah now manages approximately 100 colonies of bees.

Prior to being selected as the Wisconsin Honey Queen, Sarah served as the 2011 Northwestern District Honey Queen. In this role, she promoted the honey industry at local fairs and in schools.
