Farm News: Just Two On Soybean Ballot Right NowcommentsPosted: 01.07.2010 Elections begin Jan. 18 for two positions on the Wisconsin Soybean Marketing Board, according to the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection. Soybean producers in Districts 2 and 6 are eligible to serve and to vote. Producers who reside in the open districts can obtain a ballot for the soybean election by contacting Noel Favia, 1-800-942-2474. The election period begins Jan. 18 and continues through Jan. 30. Ballots must be postmarked on or before Jan. 30 to be valid.
In District 6, producer Mike Cerny, Sharon, will be on the ballot. District 6 contains Walworth and Jefferson counties. Steve Stetzer of District 2 will appear on this year’s ballot representing Pierce, Pepin, Eau Claire, Trempealeau, Jackson, Clark and Wood counties.
Soybean producers are eligible to write in their own names or the name of another soybean producer from one of the counties listed. Each elected director will serve a three-year term beginning Feb. 1 and ending Aug. 31, 2013.
