One candidate will appear on the ballot in each of districts 4, 8 and 9, for seats on the Wisconsin Corn Promotion Board in the election to begin Jan. 18.
The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection reported that the candidates are incumbents Calvin Dalton, Pardeeville, District 4; David Adams, Lake Geneva, District 8; and Randy Hughes, Janesville, District 9. The election will run Jan. 18-30.
To vote, growers must reside in Districts 4, 8 or 9 and request a ballot by calling the Wisconsin Farm Center, 1-800-942-2474 (toll-free), or Noel Favia, 608-224-5140. Ballots must be postmarked no later than Jan. 30. Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection Secretary Rod Nilsestuen will announce the results the following week.
Farmers who grow and sell corn in the following counties are eligible to vote:
· District 4: Adams, Columbia, Juneau, Marquette, Monroe and Waushara
· District 8: Jefferson, Kenosha, Racine and Walworth
· District 9: Green and Rock
The Wisconsin Corn Promotion Board is responsible for managing an annual budget of nearly $1 million for projects in research, education and market development.
