Farm News: Frontier FS Makes Ag In Classroom DonationcommentsPosted: 01.12.2010 Frontier FS, Conserv FS, Servco FS, and GROWMARK, Inc. cooperatives has presented a check for $3,490 to use for local and state Agriculture in the Classroom and agricultural literacy programs. Frontier FS is based in Jefferson; Servco FS in Antigo; and Conserv FS out of Woodstock, Illinois. GROWMARK, Inc. provides this support through FS Brand Seed Corn, FS HiSoy® soybean seed, and FS WL alfalfa seed sold in Wisconsin. County Farm Bureau Ag in the Classroom programs that meet minimum sales and activity requirements received funding that can be used for agricultural literacy programs and activities. Those counties include Jefferson, Kenosha, Racine, Walworth, Columbia, Dane, Dodge, Grant, Green, Iowa, Lafayette, Marquette, Portage, Richland, Rock, Sauk, Waukesha, Waushara, Wood, Langlade and Shawano. Darlene Arneson, Wisconsin Farm Bureau Foundation Director and Ag in the Classroom Coordinator said they were very appreciative of GROWMARK, Inc., and the member cooperative’s support of the Ag in the Classroom Program. She noted that farmers know it’s vital to educate school children about the importance of agriculture and where their food comes from. Arneson says today she sees that many children are several generations removed from the farm and don’t realize who raises the corn, soybeans and other products that are processed into food they eat, fiber they may wear, and renewable fuels that run their parent’s cars and other vehicles.” To donate to or learn more about the WFB Foundation, go to www.wfbf.com/wfbfoundation.org or contact Darlene Arneson at 608-828-5719. |
