Calling All Cheesecake Lovers! Put on your chef hats and tie your apron tight as the Fond du Lac Agri-Business Council invites you to participate in the first ever Best Cheesecake Contest! The Best Cheesecake Contest will be held with the Fond du Lac Agriculture Showcase on Saturday, March 6, 2010 at the Fond du Lac County Fairground Recreation Building. Two rounds of judging will determine the top three Best Cheesecakes. Co-sponsor Festival Foods will award one $100 gift card for the first place winner, with second and third place receiving a $50 and $25 gift card respectively. Everyone who submits a recipe will receive a free ticket to the Agriculture Showcase.

 

Up to 10 recipes will be selected in the first round based on creativity, use of agricultural ingredients and ease of preparation. Both dessert and savory cheesecakes will be considered. The finalists will be notified by phone by Friday February 26. Finalists will prepare the pre-qualified recipe and bring two generous slices of the cake to the Agricultural Showcase on Saturday March 6 for the second and final judging. The Showcase judges will determine the winner based on taste, appearance and general appeal. Judges for this year's contest will include members of the Fond du Lac community. 

 

Entry forms are available on line at www.fdlac.com or request a form by phone (920-921-9500). Entries can be emailed or mailed. Deadline for recipes is Wednesday, February 24, 2010.

 

There will also be a People’s Choice Award. Attendees to the Showcase will vote on their favorite cheesecake based on presentation only.
