February 6 & 7, 2010 is the date for the Wisconsin Rural Women’s Initiative’s State Wide Gathering Circle. This event is open to all women interested in taking a look back at the past year in Wisconsin Agriculture through the lens of personal thoughts feelings and how the on going farm crisis has effected their health, their families and their communities. This weekend will also offer the tools to move forward to a healthy and personally productive year.
Facilitators Barbara Murray, Women Gathering Women Facilitator and Mary Bub, Executive Director of WRWI will lead participants in the Gathering Circle Process around the theme; My Many Colored Days.
Bub told farm director, Pam Jahnke, that one thing she's learned in her 12 years of working with farm women is that they're isolated. That, she says, can lead to mental and physical abuse that goes unreported - and physical illnesses that go undiagnosed and untreated.
During the conference, women will get input on mental stress relief, self-care and personal development resources. Kathy Schmitt, Community Services Specialist will share her personal story as a farm woman as well as offer a multitude of resources available through the Wisconsin Farm Center.
Bub says it's not all about the negatives though! There will be time for relaxation, networking, re-connecting with old friends and making new ones, and lots of fun!

Wintergreen Resort at Lake Delton, (Wisconsin Dells) is the location. Cost is $75.00 includes food, lodging and program.
