Networking and goal-setting.  Those two characteristics speak volumes about the contestants in the Wisconsin Jaycees 57th Outstanding Young Farmer (OYF) Awards Weekend that wrapped up Saturday in Mishicot.

In the end, though, there can be only one winner and this year that's Ryan and Michelle Keller of Richland Center.  The Kellers are involved in the dairy industry where Ryan's the Dairy Herd Manager  at Junction View Dairy LLC and a third generation Outstanding Young Farmer. They have two children, a son, Wesley, 7, and  daughter, Paige, 4. The Kellers were sponsored by Richland Center Ag Agency and Richland Center Jaycees OYF.

Heather and Jay Jauquet, of Pulaski were 1st Runners Up winners. They are partners in Synergy Dairy, a family-owned operation that focuses on cow comfort and genetics. Jauquets have three sons:  Mason, 10; Carter, 8; and Evan, 6.   Sponsored by Shawano County OYF. This couple also received the “Speak up for Agriculture” award for their outreach & education efforts on behalf of production agriculture

2nd Runners Up winners were  Jamie & Amy Larson, Evansville. Jamie is Crop Operations Manager and Facilities and Equipment Supervisor at Larson Acres, Inc., their growing family business. Amy is the farm’s Compensation and Benefits Specialist. They have a daughter, Ellie, 3.

Judges were Dan Natzke of Wayside, a past OYF state and national winner; Bryce Larson, Calumet County UW Extension educator; and Sarah Morack, GreenStone FCS.

Dennis and Donna Bergsbaken of Bonduel, 2009 OYF state winners and national finalists, will represent Wisconsin at the OYF 54nd Awards Congress, in February in Raleigh, N.C.
