Farm News: State FSA Committee Finally Confirmed

The Obama Administration has announced the
individuals who will serve on the Wisconsin Farm Service Agency State
Committee. The State Committee members oversee activities of
the agency, including carrying out the state agricultural conservation
programs, resolving appeals from the agriculture community and helping
to keep producers informed about FSA programs. 

The individuals appointed to serve on this committee include:

Bill Averbeck (Chairperson)
Averbeck, and his wife own and operate a 430 acre dairy farm. He is the
5th generation in his family to operate the farm. Averbeck has been
farming since 1970.  He recently served on his local town board, was a
member of the Dairy Cooperative and served on the Central Area Council
board.  Averbeck also served on the board of the Cooperative Network and
Farmers Health Cooperative. He has been involved in community and Church
activates for a number of years as well. 

George A. Huber
Huber, from Clintonville, Wisconsin, has owned and operated Huber Farms,
a dairy and grain farm. His outstanding performance managing the Farm
was noticed by the Business Advisory Council, which named Huber
Wisconsin Business Man of the Year in 2005. In the 1980s, he worked for
the State of Wisconsin as a meat inspector. Mr. Huber has a B.S degree
in Agriculture from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. 

Patty Edelburg
Edelburg, from Scandinavia, Wisconsin, owns and operates Front-Page
Holsteins, a farm that breeds 120 milk cows. From 1998 to 2000, Edelburg
was the Membership Services Coordinator for the Wisconsin Farmers Union.
She also recently served as Vice President of the Wisconsin Farmers
Union Board of Directors. Edelburg has a B.S degree in Animal Sciences
from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.
