State fishing officials need ideas on how
to better manage the spotted musky population in the bay of Green
Bay.

The Department of Natural Resources says pollution, habitat
destruction and overfishing eliminated the spotted muskellunge from
the Fox River and Green Bay by the 1930s. The DNR and local fishing
clubs began efforts to restock the bay in 1989.
The DNR says the population isn't yet self-sustaining but
fishing pressure has increased dramatically.

The agency wants anglers to attend a Feb. 17 meeting in the city
of Green Bay to offer suggestions on new management strategies.
