A farmer from DeForest, has been chosen the winner in Jung Seed Genetics' "Picture Your Success" drawing.  Randy Manthe received $1,000, and chose Spencer Farm Safety 4 Just Kids to receive an additional $1,000 donation from the company.

"There is no better opportunity to promote farm safety than with kids.  I have children, and I always tried to remind them to think about safety when they were working on the farm," says Manthe.  "Farming is a fun, but dangerous occupation.  We need to keep kids thinking about what they are doing so we can reduce the number of unfortunate accidents that do occur."

The "Picture Your Success" promotion began last August as Jung district sales managers (DSMs) walked fields and rode combines with farmers to help them establish soybean yield goals.  “At Jung we are known for our high seed quality standards,” says Gary Bodden, Jung DSM who works with Manthe.
“This was an opportunity to remind our area farmers that we can be a valuable agronomic resource for them as well.”

“My students and I were very excited about the donation,” says Mark Zimmerman, Director for Spencer Farm Safety 4 Just Kids.  “We will be using the money to support our Farm & Outdoor Safety Day for the elementary school kids in our school district.  We offer mini-workshops on farm & tractor safety, animal safety, chemical safety, ATV safety, lawnmower safety and sun safety to our third graders on a local farm.  We also plan to support our Buckle-Up Truck Campaign (seat belt safety) for our high school students.”
