Farm News: Badger Livestock Judging Camp Now Open

Mark your calendars for the Badger Livestock Judging Camp to be held on Thursday, March 11 at the Arlington Research Station, Arlington, WI. This camp is for youth who have completed 3rd grade through one year past high school that are interested in building their knowledge on the evaluation principles associated with market and breeding beef, swine and sheep as well as grading and giving reasons.  

“This camp will feature speakers versed in the area of selection and reasons”, according to Bernie O’Rourke, Extension Youth Livestock Specialist. The cost of the camp is $10 per person which includes lunch and materials and is limited to the first 100 people. FFA chapters are limited to 5 youth. Pre registration is required before March 5.
 
Presenters:
Chad Howlett
Judged Livestock at Black Hawk East and University of Illinois (All American Judge at Louisville). Coached at Black Hawk East, University of Kentucky & Purdue University. Have judged at all levels (county, regional, state & national) of livestock shows.
 
Bernie O’Rourke
Judged Livestock, Meats and Wool in 4-H and at South Dakota State University; coached Meat Animal Evaluation teams at South Dakota State University, University of Nebraska – Lincoln & University of Wisconsin - Madison. Coached Minnesota 4-H teams to National Competition. Currently the UW Extension Youth Livestock Specialist.
 
Ron Russell
Judged Livestock and Meats at University of Missouri. Have coached the University of Wisconsin – Madison Meat Animal Evaluation teams, where multiple teams have finished in the top 5 in national competition. Currently instruct collegiate students and youth in livestock evaluation.
 
Todd Taylor
Judged Livestock, Meats and Wool in 4-H and FFA in Wyoming. Judged at Northeastern Jr. College and University of Wyoming. Currently coaching the Columbia County Meats Team and assist with the Livestock and Skillathon teams.
 
Amy Radunz
NDSU Meats and Livestock Judging Teams.  Coached Washington State University Collegiate Livestock Judging Team, The Ohio State University Collegiate Meat Animal Evaluation Team, and the State Ohio 4-H Livestock Judging Team. Currently the Extension Beef Specialist at University of Wisconsin – Madison. 
 
Alicia Prill-Adams
Judged Livestock as a youth in Illinois, collegiately at Illinois State University, also taught livestock selection courses and coached teams at Southern Illinois University and University of Wisconsin – Platteville. Currently at University of Wisconsin – Platteville.
