The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has provided a $1,960,526 grant to help Wisconsin schools operating a National School Lunch Program (NSLP) to better administer the programs and improve the quality of school meals.  Wisconsin will use its grant to implement accountability software to provide technical assistance and training for schools.

USDA's Food and Nutrition Service will award a total of $6.5 million in Administrative Review and Training grants to seven states to help support the implementation of innovative training, monitoring, and technology solutions to enhance program effectiveness. The grants will target school food authorities that have demonstrated a high level of, or a high risk for, error in program operations.

The National School Lunch Program operates in more than 101,000 public and nonprofit private schools and residential child care institutions nationwide.  The program provides 31 million children every day with nutritionally balanced, low-cost or free lunches designed to meet American Dietary Guidelines.
