Farm News: Two WI Beef Producers Named To National Boad

Two Wisconsin beef producers are among 36 that have been named by U.S. Ag Secretary, Tom Vilsack, to the  Cattlemen's Beef Promotion and Research Board. All appointees will serve 3-year terms beginning immediately.

Martin Andersen of New Glarus and Randy Geiger from Reedsville will both voice Wisconsin's concerns on beef policy development.

Andersen, who also serves on the National Cattlemen's Federation Division, is also a member of the Wisconsin Cattlemens Association.

Geiger is known for his involvement in the dairy industry. serving on both the National Milk Producers Federation board and the Manitowoc Milk Producers Coop boards.

The Board oversees collection of $1-per-head on all cattle sold in the United States, and $1-per-head equivalent on imported cattle, beef and beef products. In addition, the Board contracts with established national, non-profit, industry-governed organizations to implement programs of promotion, research, consumer information, industry information, foreign marketing and producer communications.
