The Wisconsin Farm Service Agency (FSA) is planning two informational seminars regarding how FSA can help facilitate transferring farm land or personal property from one generation to the next.

The hour-long seminars will be held on Thursday, March 25, 2010, at 10 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Participants can attend the seminar in one of two ways, either over the internet and a phone, or just by phone.

Since the seminars are limited in size, early registration is required. Attendees must pre-register by going to http://www.fsa.usda.gov/wi and follow the registration link or contact their local FSA office to sign up.

"Transferring ownership of a farm can be one of the most important decisions in a land owner’s life," said Brad Pfaff, Wisconsin FSA State Executive Director.

FSA has direct farm real estate and personal property loans available to help eligible customers finance the purchase of farmland or personal assets in unique ways beneficial to the seller and buyer. Some loans carry an interest rate as low as 1.5%. However, FSA does not replace conventional credit.

Besides loans, FSA offers some of the best farm planning and financial counseling in production agriculture and is known as the Lender of First Opportunity. "FSA has helped thousands of Wisconsin farm families transfer the farm over the past 70 years, and we continue that tradition today," added Pfaff.

Attendees need to pre-register for the event on the web at http://www.fsa.usda.gov/wi and follow the seminar link, or contact your local FSA office.

Persons with disabilities who require accommodations to attend or participate in a seminar should contact Jeff Gruetzmacher at 608-723-7697 or Federal Relay Service at 1-800-877-8339, and jeff.gruetzmacher@wi.usda.gov by March 23rd.
