Farm News: Tire Prices Going UpcommentsPosted: 03.16.2010 Spring is a season of change for many things and this spring, we can all expect a big change that could affect growers bottom line when tire manufacturers nationwide increase their wholesale prices anywhere from 5 percent to even as much as 10 percent. “As soon as we heard about this from our tire manufacturers, we have been trying to get the word out to all of our customers so they can get ahead of the game and get their tires now, rather than waiting 60 days and seeing the increase come down across the board.” said Landmark Tire Center Manager Ed Corn. “We serve quite a few customers in the agriculture and trucking industries that might be buying $10,000 to $20,000 worth of tires at one time and when you take 10 percent of a number like that, it can really add up fast. The savings, even on a set for your car, can be anywhere from $40 to well over a $100.” In order to help customers take advantage of the expected savings - Landmark Cooperative has extended special credit terms through March 31st. It can allow for billing on a 30, 60 or in some cases, even a 90 day basis. “With this unexpected increase from our manufacturers, we are trying to help our customers take advantage of these savings without breaking their pocket book.” said Corn. |
