Farm News: Pork Producers Extends RebatecommentsPosted: 03.18.2010 The Wisconsin Pork Association recently announced that the $75 rebate to Wisconsin pork producers who complete PQA Plus Site Assessments has been extended through May 31, 2010. “Pork producers have always been committed to providing a safe and affordable product to consumers. Completing all levels of the PQA Plus program enhances that level of commitment,” said Tammy Vaassen, director of operations for WPA. “Partnering with the National Pork Board and the National Pork Producers Council allows us to help alleviate some of the cost of the assessment for producers.”
The following requirements and stipulations apply:
- All site status paperwork must be completed.
- Producer must postmark the rebate form before June 15, 2010.
- Limit of one rebate per production entity.
- Rebate amount may not equal more than the total assessment cost.
- Rebates available on a first-come, first-served basis until funding is exhausted.
The Wisconsin Pork Association, National Pork Board and National Pork Producers Council are encouraging all producers to abide by the Statement of Ethical Principals, become PQA Plus® certified, achieve site status and have their employees who are involved in the handling and transport of animals become Transport Quality Assurance (TQA) certified. The purpose of this program is to encourage producers to be proactive in providing the best possible care for their animals and show commitment to the ethical principles of pork production as outlined in the We Care responsible pork initiative.
Having a PQA Plus® advisor review your operation can both improve the well-being and productivity of animals in your care by noting changes or additions that may not otherwise be noticed.
Producers are asked to visit www.wppa.org to access the form and then work with their PQA Plus advisor to complete and return it to WPA. Forms can also be received by contacting the WPA office at 1-800-822-7675.
For more information, please contact Tammy Vaassen at tvaassen@wppa.org or 1-800-822-7675.
