Farmers and other rural residents will get the chance to express what they feel should be Wisconsin Farmers Union’s priorities when WFU president Darin Von Ruden tours Wisconsin April 6-10.
During the WFU tour, “Family Farms: The Real Deal…Cultivating Values,” Von Ruden will listen to WFU members’ and potentials’ concerns, and will discuss policies set during the recent Wisconsin Farmers Union and National Farmers Union conventions.
The tour schedule:
* April 6: 8 p.m., Cenex Exit 45 Truck Stop, County Highway B, Menomonie. Register by April 2 through the WFU state office at 715-723-5561 or 800-272-5531.

* April 7: 2:30 p.m., Nelson Dairy Farm, W14297 Broadway Road, Wisconsin Dells.
* April 7: 7:30 p.m., Hinchley’s Dairy Farm, 2844 Highway 73, Cambridge.

* April 9: 3 p.m., Barron County Courthouse, 330 E. La Salle Ave, Barron.
* April 9, 8 p.m., Amnicon Town Hall, 8985 E. Highway 2, Wentworth.
* April 10: 10:30 a.m. county meeting and 11 a.m. conference, Oakwood Inn, 11 Robertson Road, Luck.
* April 10: 3 p.m., Cadott School Forest building, 80th Ave., Cadott.

“There’s a lot going on in farm and general rural policy, and we want to be sure that Wisconsin Farmers Union is doing what our members need because we have to position ourselves the way our members want,” Von Ruden said. “We’re truly a grass-roots organization and, if we’re going to continue being grass-roots, I want to hear directly from our members about what directions they want the organization to go.”
