An 83-year-old Osseo man is dead after
suffering severe burns in a corn field fire.

Authorities say Spencer Pederson died at Regions Hospital in St.
Paul. He was severely burned over a large percentage of his body on
Saturday evening after a fire started in a corn field.

Osseo Fire Chief Nels Gunderson says conditions are dry, and
it's possible Pederson's tractor ignited the fire. It appears
Pederson might have tried to put the fire out when he was overtaken
by flames.

Two other people were also burned, but not severely.
Pederson was a lifelong resident of Osseo's Hale Township.
