State lawmakers will get more time to
debate a massive bill that lays out sweeping renewable-energy goals
for Wisconsin.

The Clean Energy Jobs Act would make a number of broad changes.
For example, it would require that the state move toward greater
use of renewable energy.

Opponents say it would be too expensive to comply.
The bill originally hadn't been scheduled for debate Tuesday in
either the state Assembly or Senate. That would have left just
Thursday, the last day of the session, to get it done.

But a spokeswoman for Assembly Speaker Mike Sheridan,
D-Janesville, says he has now added it to the Assembly's calendar
so it would be available for a vote Tuesday.

If it passes that house, that could pressure the Senate to act
before Thursday's adjournment.
