Farm News: Corn Ethanol Bill SignedcommentsPosted: 05.19.2010 Governor Jim Doyle is probably wishing his signature were shorter after signing more then 40 new bills into law on Tuesday - including one that helps consumers find ethanol appropriate to their vehicles. The Wisconsin Corn Growers Association said they were pleased to see Senate Bill 279 succeed. Known as the "2010 Ethanol Bill", the group says it will make it easier for consumers to find the right blend of ethanol fuel for their vehicle, and easier for fueling stations to provide the blends. Gov. Jim Doyle has also signed a bill that requires state officials to provide new wetland identification services for landowners. Under the bill, anyone who owns or leases land can ask the Department of Natural Resources to confirm a wetland by reviewing maps or through field inspections. Local governments that issue building permits also must give applicants written warnings about complying with state and federal wetland construction laws. Even after signing 44 more bills yesterday, there's been no action on legalizing raw milk. There was an organized rally supporting raw milk sales at the state capitol on Tuesday. Andrew Mastrocola, the Jefferson & Waukesha County chapter leader of the Weston A. Price Foundation, which supports the consumption of raw milk said "Many people who believe they are lactose intolerant are able to consume raw milk without problems, because it has not been de-natured by excessive processing and the high temperatures of pasteurization." Doyle has until Thursday to act on the bills. Those he doesn't sign or veto become law without his signature.
