Farm News: Hay Expo Delays Opening DaycommentsPosted: 06.16.2010
The 2010 Farm Progress Hay Expo, scheduled to start today on a farm west of Strawberry Point, Iowa, will now open at 11 a.m - a two hour delay. "Unfortunately, we had over an inch of rain yesterday and last night and the grounds are muddy," says Matt Jungmann, Farm Progress national events manager. "The weather service predicts sunshine for Wednesday." The Hay Expo is a two day event and will have normal show hours on its second show day, Thurs., June 17 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The show team expects mowing and chopping field demonstrations will be held during the day Wednesday. The team is still evaluating what additional field demonstrations will be available for Thursday. The Hay Expo is designed to give alfalfa, other hay, and forage producers an intensive, one-stop learning and shopping opportunity focusing on the latest equipment and techniques for high quality production. More than 200 acres of alfalfa will be utilized to showcase mowing, conditioning, baling and silage demonstrations. Visitors will see side-by-side operational comparisons of the various equipment brands in the field demonstrations. The show site is located just west of Strawberry Point, Iowa, on Hwy 3 on the Matt and Jana Hamlett farm. Admission is free; parking is $7 per vehicle. The public is welcome.
