Farm News: Living History Farm Gets Big DonationcommentsPosted: 06.30.2010
A living history farm in Dane county is getting ready to unveil it's largest in-kind donation ever! Schumacher Farm Park, located in Waunakee, will receive its largest in-kind donation in
its 32 year history. Bob Forbess of Dodgeville, will generously gift his collection of vintage farm machinery so that others can enjoy and learn from it.
The collection includes a 1918 Rumely oil-pull tractor; a 1930 McCormick-Deering thresher; a
1925 McCormick-Deering grain binder; a Van Brunt grain drill (circa 1900)and an Oliver
Superior grain drill. This collection is unique because of its variety and the exceptional quality of
the Rumely.
The Forbess’ donation magnifies Schumacher Farm’s representation of Dane County rural
lifeways of the 1920’s and 30’s and enriches its unique collection of historical farm machinery.
Schumacher Farm Park is a living history museum with a conservancy and a repository of
Wisconsin’s rural agricultural history. It's mission is to provide opportunities that promote community
volunteerism and family participation.
A public reception will be held to commemorate the event and allow visitors to view parts of the
collection on Saturday, July 10 from 3:30-5PM, at 5682 Highway 19 in Waunakee. Parking is
available off of Schumacher Farm Road.
