![]() The Wisconsin Agricultural Education Foundation, through its efforts to support the Agricultural Education and Workforce Development Council, has awarded competitive grants to high schools to enhance education programs and to support professional development for Wisconsin Technical College instructors.
According to Al Herrman, Foundation Chair, “The grants are awarded based on initiatives that enhance study surrounding food, agriculture and natural resources”. There are several criteria for the awards including financial need, instructional enrichment, program transferability, sustainability and unique applications.
The two new grants that were awarded to technical college instructors went to:
** Tracy Harper, Western Technical College.
** Randy Tenpas, Fox Valley Technical College.
These grants are designed to support professional improvement for the instructors.
The winners of the high school programs grants are:
** Freedom. Purchase curriculum kits to improve instruction, student activities and rigor of study in several areas.
** Independence. Purchase of supplies and testing equipment to support coursework in aquaculture.
** Laconia. Purchase of updated computer-based curriculum and assessment programs.
** Lodi. Develop displays and presentations to promote agriculture and education.
** Manawa. Use of video technological to improve instruction and student recruitment.
Funding for the awards came from private donations provided by companies, foundations, organizations and individuals supporting the WAEF and the efforts of the Council.
