Farm News: WI Farmers Held On To CropscommentsPosted: 07.02.2010 Was it prices - or poor timing? Wisconsin farmers held on to a lot of their 2009 crop! Wisconsin's corn stocks went up 19 percent compared to 2009. In state, Wisconsin had 173 million bushels of corn as of June 1, 2010. On-farm stocks accounted for 95 million bushels, an increase of 6 percent from 90 million bushels a year earlier, while off-farm stocks came in at 77.7 million bush-els, a 39 percent increase from 55.7 million bushels on June 1 of last year. National corn stocks were up 1 percent from June 1, 2009. The pattern was similar with Wisconsin soybeans! Wisconsin soybean stocks in all positions totaled 19.1 million bushels as of June 1, 2010, an increase of 22 percent from 15.7 million bushels on June 1, 2009. On-farm stocks were 6 million bushels, a 10 percent drop from 6.7 million bushels a year ear-lier, while off-farm stocks were 13.1 million bushels, up 46 per-cent from 9 million bushels on June 1 of last year. Nationally, oats stored in all positions on June 1, 2010 totaled 80.3 million bushels, 4 percent below the stocks on June 1, 2009.
