Farm News: Old World Wisconsin Wedding Still Happens

Even a tornado can't stop wedding bells
from ringing at Old World Wisconsin.

Amber Koenig of West Allis and William Draughton of Oconomowoc
were set to tie the knot Saturday afternoon on a manicured lawn at
the sprawling compound of replica settler villages and farms in
Eagle.

But a torando hit the area on June 21 and downed so many trees
at the attraction that site officials had to shut the place down.
There's still no reopen date.

Old World Wisconsin spokeswoman Lisa McGovern says the lawn has
been cleared of trees but crews haven't re-landscaped it. Rather
than postponing the nuptials, site officials took the unusual step
of moving the ceremony into a village. A reception followed in
an octagonal barn.
