Farm News: FFA Foundation Always Looking For Support

Weather was beautiful for 95 golfers that took to the links in Cottage Grove for the southern Wisconsin FFA Foundation Golf Outing.

Nicole Nelson, executive director of the FFA Foundation, said this was the third event designed to raise not only funds - but also awareness about challenges ag education and FFA programs in the state may be facing this year.  The Foundation added a new golf outing in the Green Bay area this year with approximately 20 golfers that joined the inaugural event.

One impromptu event that was held on Monday in Cottage Grove was a fundraiser for the Rod Nilsesteun Memorial Fund.  No final tally was available on the amount of money that would be contributed on behalf of the FFA Foundation.

Chuck Adami of the Equity Livestock Sales Cooperative Association is a board member that believes in the FFA.  "We need to make sure we're always telling our message to parents, educators, policy makers,"  There were several ag instructors in the audience that were discussing budget shortfalls in their school system, and the ever-changing list of teachers that are available to fill teaching vacancies that may exist.

Nicole Nelson said she'll be working on the FFA Foundation's budget over the course of the next few weeks to find out how much money they'll be contributing toward ag education and FFA related events for school year 2010-2011.
