Gov. Jim Doyle has ordered that flags should fly at half mast today to honor Wisconsin Ag Secretary Rod Nilsesteun.
Nilsesteun drowned on Wednesday in Lake Superior. Today Doyle and other state officials will be gathering to pay respects to Nilsesteun's legacy in downtown Madison during a public memorial.
Nilsestuen had served as Doyle's secretary of the Department of
Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection since he first took
office in 2003.
A visitation followed by a memorial service is planned Tuesday
at Bethel Lutheran Church just blocks from the state Capitol in
Madison. For more details on the memorial, and for additional details on contributing to the Rod Nilsesteun Memorial Fund go to our farm news page from Sunday.
