The Wisconsin Show Pig Association (WSPA) will be holding an awards ceremony for the 2010 WSPA Show Circuit on Thursday, August 12 at the Wisconsin State Fair in the swine barn following junior showmanship.

Sixty-four youth WSPA members exhibited at seven weekend WSPA sanctioned shows from May thru June collecting points to be eligible for awards.   

Awards will be presenting to the top points achiever and WSPA member producers in the following categories:

Gilt Awards

Duroc Gilt: exhibited by Nick Henricks, bred by JH Premium Quality Meats

Hampshire Gilt: Kayla Monson, bred by Monson Showpigs

Landrace Gilt: exhibited by Aubrey Doherty, bred by Doherty Family Farm

Poland Gilt: exhibited by Noah Morris, bred by Watson Family Farms

Spot Gilt: exhibited by Isabella Doherty, bred by Doherty Family Farm

Crossbred Gilt: TJ Doherty, bred by Doherty Family Farm

Barrow Awards

Berkshire Barrow:  exhibited by Nathan Doherty, bred by Brugger Showstock

Duroc Barrow: exhibited by TJ Doherty, bred by Badger Swine Genetics

Hampshire Barrow: exhibited by Austin Lynd, bred by WinMor Farms

Hereford Barrow: exhibited by Taylor North, bred by Travis and Taylor North

Landrace Barrow: exhibited by Aubrey Doherty, bred by Doherty Family Farm

Spot Barrow: exhibited by Nathan Doherty, bred by Doherty Family Farm

Poland Barrow: exhibited by Bailey Langrehr, bred by Nuttleman Farms

Yorkshire Barrow: exhibited by Nick Henricks, bred by JH Premium Quality Meats

Showmanship

WSPA will recognize the following individuals for top showmanship honors.

Novice (5-8): Kayla Monson; Junior (9-12): Elysa Doherty; Intermediate (13-16): Aubrey Doherty; Senior (17-21): Emma Berget.

Overall, Top Points Achiever

Nathan Doherty was the 2010 top points achiever and will be receiving a one-year lease of a Popper.
