Farm News: Day 3--The Big Show DaycommentsPosted: 08.06.2010 Feature by summer intern, Ashley Nimtz ![]() Busy. The one word that describes day three of the WI State Fair.
It all started by getting up to milk my cow for the show that afternoon at 2:00am with morning chores beginning at 3:45. With morning chores finished, it was time to get ready for the show. There were 36 animals to get ready today and we needed to get started right away.
As the day progressed the show seemed to be getting farther behind and the sky started to get darker and darker. By the time I showed at 3:00pm the sky looked like it was going to let loose and rain at any second. In the end of my work throughout the day to help keep other exhibitors animals clean and ready for show allowed me for not as much time to get my cow ready. But it all ended up great because I placed fifth in my class of 15 and received the top red ribbon. I was so excited to do so well. My cow was extremely well behaved and had just begun leaking milk as we left the ring.
![]() After showing it was time for supper. But not only for me…for my cow as well and we were both starving. Then was yet another shift of barn duty. In my opinion, this was the hardest barn duty yet. The aisle of the barns were packed full of people so it was hard to move around and watch what every animal was doing.
Finally, my crazy day ended with a walk around the state fair park with some of my best friends.
