Farm News: WI Emu Leaders On National BoardcommentsPosted: 08.16.2010 Wisconsin emu producer's can't be accused of standing by and not getting involved! Three Wisconsin emu producers have been elected to the American Emu Association's board of directors! The annual gathering of emu producers from across the United States wrapped up in Des Moines, IA, with Brodhead producer, Joylene Reavis, being elected AEA Secretary and region 3 director. Betty Lou Cauffman of Fennimore was elected as Parliamentarian and director-at-large, while Sue Kiselicka of Medford joined the national board as a director-at-large. The focus of this year’s convention was returning to the "Nuts & Bolts of the Emu Industry". Topics included Feed Formulation, Industry Status, Profitability, Business Opportunities, Marketing, Emu Oil Processing, Benefits of Emu Oil and the Basics of Raising & Handling Emus.
Founded in 1989, the American Emu Association (AEA) is a national emu association that supports the emu industry by promoting public awareness of emus and their products and developing the leadership to advance the growing emu industry. The AEA recognizes volunteers each year during the convention banquet. Like many other farming industries, the AEA is moved forward by volunteers. It is important for the AEA and its members to recognize the sacrifices made by these volunteers, who take time from their personal lives and their own businesses in order to move this industry forward.
The 2011 AEA National Convention will be in the Minneapolis, Minnesota area at the Holiday Inn & Suites, Bloomington, MN, July 15-17, 2011.
