A revised loan program in Wisconsin might help struggling dairy businesses expand.

As Governor Jim Doyle wrapped up his “Up North” tour, he, along with DATCP Deputy Secretary Randy Romanski announced a new low-interest revolving loan program to help dairy businesses expand. The application period for the loans is open now - and the loan cap has been raised to $150,000.

“These low-interest revolving loans are designed to give smaller dairy businesses meaningful tools to move forward and meet their goals,” DATCP Deputy Secretary Randy Romanski said at Holland’s Family Cheese in Thorp. “By helping to fund the purchase and installation of new equipment, we expect to see new products, improved efficiency and expanded markets.”

To apply for a dairy business low-interest loan, or to receive more information about the program, contact Carl Rainey by e-mailing Carl.Rainey@wisconsin.gov or calling 608-224-5139

The revolving low-interest loan is open to dairy businesses with a net worth of less than $3 million that are interested in expanding, introducing new products or entering new markets. It replaces a loan program that had a cap of $35,000.
