Farm News: BlueGreen Tour In Wisconsin

Posted: 08.25.2010

A nationwide bus tour urging the U.S. Senate to take up on clean energy legislation is set to stop in Wisconsin.

The BlueGreen Alliance, a partnership involving labor unions and
environmental organizations, began its 17-state tour on Aug. 16 in
California. The tour is set to end in Richmond, Va., on Sept. 3.

"Over the past two years, environmental groups, businesses, labor unions, health organizations, and faith groups representing millions of Americans have come out strongly in support of action on global warming. These voices will continue to grow as the climate crisis worsens, as temperatures continue to rise, and as public health suffers," said Wesley Warren, Director of Programs for the Natural Resources Defense Council Action Fund. "It was cynical politics that stood in the way of progress, not a lack of public support. The fight is far from over."

The tour is scheduled to stop in Madison on Wednesday morning
and in Green Bay later in the afternoon. The Green Bay visit will
feature a news conference with officials from the Wisconsin state
AFL-CIO and the Sierra Club's Wisconsin chapter.
