Curious about "fish farming"?  In Wisconsin - the value of its aquaculture industry just keeps growing, and they're always looking for new faces to join!

A "Beginning" Aquaculture workshop is coming up Saturday, September 25, at Woods & Waters Enterprises, Inc. in Juneau.  Registration begins at 8 am. The workshop runs from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm and is tailored to introduce people to the Wisconsin Aquaculture Industry and provide an overview from a small business perspective on how to start and operate a fish farm.

Woods & Waters had its start in 1995 when Randy decided to switch from traditional farming to one with a more recreational approach. He started by transforming the cropland into a forest and incorporated several ponds into the landscape. Today his company offers consulting for pond and forest management as well as supplies, fish and equipment for people who want to better manage their property.

Wisconsin’s $14 Million aquaculture industry is made up of 125 business fish farms and is very diverse, consisting of farms raising fish for food, stocking, bait and recreational fee fishing.

Who should attend: Anyone with an interest in fish and who would like to find out what fish farming entails. Emphasis will be placed on providing information that will help participants make informed decisions on the business of aquaculture.

Cost: The registration for the all day workshop is $35.00 per person and includes breaks, lunch, tour of the hosting fish farm, handout materials and a one year Associate Membership with WAA. Online registration and brochure found at www.WisconsinAquaculture.com
