A 23-year-old woman suffered severe injuries when she fell off a hay wagon, which then rolled over her in Trempealeau County in western Wisconsin.

The county sheriff's department says it happened about 5:45 p.m. Sunday in Ettrick. A tractor driven by a 29-year-old man was pulling the wagon, which had several passengers.

The victim had severe head and leg injuries and was flown to a hospital in LaCrosse with life-threatening injuries. Officials did not release her name.

The tractor driver fled the scene, but was later arrested. Investigators believe alcohol was a factor in the accident.

The accident is under investigation.
